FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics produces subsea robots that are primarily used in deepwater oil and gas production. These remotely operated vehicles and manipulators utilize electro-hydraulic actuators, a wide variety of sensors, and a distributed control system to provide vehicle position and attitude control. This seminar will provide a brief ROV control system overview, with specific focus on the transition from direct sensor feedback to modern state estimation for feedback control.
