Bond Graph and Estimation Applications to Vehicle Systems

Abstract

Bond graphs are a pictorial representation of physical system dynamics that allow modeling of all types of multi-energy domain engineering systems. Bond graph modeling is combined with a novel approach to estimation called the Controller Output Observer such that difficult t measure system outputs can be estimated in very nearly real time.

The Controller Output Observer is developed through example and then demonstrated for several vehicle dynamic systems. Applications include wind gust estimation, engine pressure estimation, clutch torque estimation, tire force estimation, and more.
