Methods, Times and Procedures of Evaluation
The faculty member teaching the course is the responsible supervisor of all TA's. However, for TA's working exclusively in the lab, direct supervision is given by the Student Shop Supervisor. Problems, concerns, suggestions or questions about all aspects of the course (content, references, grading practices, individual student needs, make-up policy, etc.) should be directed to the faculty member in charge. TA will be evaluated by the students at the end of the course, using the departmental evaluation form. Student evaluations will be available for TA review in a reasonable amount of time.
Special Circumstances
TA's working in the lab setting will report directly to the Student Shop Supervisor. Safety is a primary concern in this course. TA's must attend a safety review conducted by the Student Shop Supervisor before the lab instruction begins.
Depending on course enrollment, TA's may work exclusively in the lab setting, or may share in grading and planning the CAD assignments for the course. It is advantageous to have a working knowledge of basic manufacturing processes and CAD packages.
TA's for this course are expected to enroll in MAE-396 (Teaching Assistant Training Practicum), which meets one hour per week. The purpose of this course is to provide instruction on teaching.
