Mechanical Engineering 185 A,B - Mechanical Systems Design Project

This position and job description is based on a 10 hour per week position.

Course Information

This is a two-quarter continuum, 185A and 185B, with the TA to be involved for both quarters.

Lecture: 1-2 hours per week

Discussion: 1-2 hours per week

Usual number of TA's: 1 or 2 per quarter depending on enrollment

Requirements

Graduate student with a degree in Mechanical and/or Aeronautical Engineering. Must have taken the course or equivalent with emphasis on product systems design, including requirements and function analysis, design architecture and translation to a buildable product. Preference will be given to those who apply by March 15 for the following academic year. All domestic applicants applying to the MAE Graduate Program, with a GPA of 3.5 and above, will automatically be considered for this position.

Grade design projects and help prepare assignments and exercises: 30

Description of Procedures and Policies

TA's serve as the link between the students and the instructor for carrying out details of the major 2-quarter design project.

Methods, Times and Procedures of Evaluation

TA's will be evaluated by the students at the end of the course, using the departmental evaluation forms. Student evaluations will be available for TA review in a reasonable amount of time. Instructor will also evaluate TA performance in supporting his/her needs

Special Circumstances

TA's for this course are expected to enroll in MAE-396 (Teaching Assistant Training Practicum), which meets one hour per week. The purpose of this course is to provide instruction on teaching and report grading in conjunction with EME-185.
