The AHMCT Cone Shooter , an automated highway cone placement and retrieval vehicle developed by faculty, staff, and students in the MAE Advanced Highway Maintenance and Construction Technology Research Center , has received TWO PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS! Tranny Award The Automated Cone Placement and Retrieval Machine will soon be awarded the 2001 California Transportation Foundation's Tranny Award . Excellence in Transportation The Automatic Cone Placement and Retrieval Vehicle will receive a 2001 Excellence in Transportation award from the California Department of Transportation . In the words of Bob Battersby of the Caltrans New Technology and Research Program : "Very exciting recognition for a project conducted with the utmost professionalism and engineering excellence. Again, my congratulations and gratitude go to those attributable with the success of this project including UC Davis AHMCT Research Center, Caltrans Maintenance Program, Equipment Service Center, Districts, and, not least of all, AHMCT Branch Staff."
