Following is a partial list of laboratories in our department.

ACRES - Advanced Composite Research, Engineering and Science

Aerospace Design Group , Aerospace Wind Tunnel Facility - Wind tunnel computational projects, such as predictions of boundary layers and lift performance.

Biofluid and Cellular Mechanics Laboratory - Projects related to the role of arterial fluid mechanics in the development of atherosclerosis and neointimal hyperplasia.

Biomechanical Engineering in Sports Laboratory - Projects related to cycling, skiing, and snowboarding biomechanics.

Biosolid Mechanics - Mechanics related to the understanding and description of biological systems.

Combustion Laboratory - Interdisciplinary research projects in combustion and chemically reacting flows. For example, diamond synthesis and turbulent flames.

Environmental Aerodynamics - Study of effects of wind near earth's surface, such as SF Giants Stadium site layout.

Heat Transfer Laboratory - Study of convective heat transfer for applications such as gas turbine blades and cooling of electronics.

Hydrogen Production and Utilization Laboratory - Study of hydrocarbon reformation via steam and autothermal reforming methods, renewable hydrogen production, hydrogen clean-up methods, optimization of fuel cell vehicles and fuel cell power systems, Hydrogen combustion, demonstration and operation of a Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Transit Bus.

Integration Engineering Laboratory - Interdisciplinary study of manufacturing enterprises and related infrastructure, including "agile manufacturing," mechatronics, human-machine interaction, and factory automation.

Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory - Development of software and automation technologies, including tools, robots, computers, and instruments, with application to mechatronics and manufacturing process design and control.

Material Performance Laboratory - Study of material endurance using mechanical testing, simulation, residual stress measurements, and advanced data acquisition systems.

Orthopedics Biomechanics Laboratory - Research related to the prevention, treatment, repair and rehabilitation of injuries to soft tissue structures primarily in the human knee.

Scaled Model Aerospace Research and Testing Laboratory - Development of advanced concepts for various Aerospace and space vehicle systems and subsystems such as satellites, aircraft, space planes, launch vehicles, and planetary landing-recovery systems.

Sensors and Microelectromechanical Systems — Biosensors can be used to detect compounds in biological fluids or in the environment.

Sports Biomechanics Laboratory - Study of athletic performance and mechanics using modeling, simulation and measurement.
