About the Horsley Group at UC Davis
Objectives
- Our research focus is on Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) and Nanostructures. Current research activities in our group include optical nanostructures and optical MEMS, biological and physical sensors, and microfluidic devices. Our current collaborators include researchers at UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, and Sandia National Laboratories.
Facilities
- Our laboratory is an 800 square-foot facility with optical metrology and characterization equipment including two wafer probe stations, microscopes, a stroboscopic phase-shifting interferometer, laser Doppler vibrometer, and optical spectrometer. Magnetic testing equipment includes a BH Looper and gaussmeter. In addition, the laboratory is outfitted with electronic test and measurement equipment such as low-noise amplifiers, a lock-in amplifier, and a spectrum analyzer. For microfluidic and biological testing, our facility is outfitted with a wet-bench, fume-hood and chemical storage facilities.
