Position Title
Assistant Professor
- Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
Professor Soltani's research aims at developing machine learning, control and estimation tools to enable automation and robotics across scales from visualization and manipulation of the matter at the nano-scale, to assembly of complex automotive parts and autonomous driving. His research is interdisciplinary in nature involving computer science principles as well as electrical, optical, and mechanical engineering techniques. It further covers both heavily experimental/hands-on research such as development of novel medical devices as well as theoretical approaches with emphasis on data-efficient learning, estimation and control. As the nature of his research necessitates his research team members come from various backgrounds and departments including ECE, MAE and CS.
