Welcome Aggies!
Welcome to the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. This page is designed to ensure our incoming students are aware of their next steps in the orientation process. Please read through all of the information on this page and reference your UC Davis emails, as more information will be shared as we approach the beginning of the orientation period for the upcoming academic year.
Step 1: Complete Aggie 101 (UC Davis Canvas Module)
This module provides an overview of the resources available to you as a UC Davis student.
- All incoming first-year students must complete Aggie 101 by July 1.
- All incoming transfer students must complete Aggie 101 by July 15.
Step 2: Complete Canvas Module for the College of Engineering (COE)
This module will delve more into the academic side of orientation, including major specific information. (i.e., how to enroll in courses, what to consider for your first schedule in fall and how to determine your transfer credit/AP/IB Scores).
You may begin accessing these modules after completing Aggie 101.
Access to the College of Engineering Canvas Module goes live:
- First-year students: May 13
- Transfer students: June 4
Step 3: Attend the MAE Department Group Advising Session (Zoom)
During this interactive session, MAE Advisors will cover the degree requirements for the major, advising resources, and walk you through the process of building your (3) quarter academic plan. If possible, it is best to participate in this session from a computer.
- First-year students
- Tuesday, July 7 at 1 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 8 at 3 p.m.
- Transfer students
- Mechanical Engineering: Monday, July 20 at 2 p.m.
- Aerospace Engineering: Tuesday, July 21 at 2 p.m.
These sessions will take place via Zoom. Zoom registration information has been sent to your UC Davis email.
Step 4: Attend the MAE Department Orientation (In Person)
We want to make sure you get all the information you need to approach your fall courses with confidence. To do that, your advisor encourages you to come prepared with any questions you may have.
During these orientation sessions, MAE advisors will briefly cover several topics to consider when adjusting the to UC Davis quarter system and review specific items about the College of Engineering and the MAE department.
The MAE Department In-Person Orientation dates for first-year and transfer students will be sent to your UC Davis email.
Aggie Advising appointments (optional)
Speaking with a MAE advisor is completely optional for incoming students.
Many of your common questions will be answered through Aggie 101, the College of Engineering Canvas and through the MAE Group Advising Sessions.
Same day advising/advising appointments will be available beginning in mid July.
Are you considering a different major other than Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering?
