Professor Farouki’s research focuses on developing novel mathematical models and geometrical algorithms to achieve greater accuracy, efficiency and reliability at the interface between design and manufacturing. Farouki works to eliminate the error-prone and data-intensive approximations (e.g., G code part programs in machining and STL files in 3D printing) that are currently used to communicate part geometry to manufacturing processes.
