THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS GRANTED FOR THE CHANGE OF MAJOR PROCESS IN THE MAE DEPARTMENT.

All required GPA Minimums must be met and all required ENGINEERING coursework must be completed.
All non-major students must attend a change of major workshop prior to submitting a change of major form on OASIS (no exceptions). MAE Advising does not offer 1:1 appointments with non-major students. 

Change Your Major to Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering

The MAE department will not review any petitions from non-major students outside of our majors until all other change of major criteria has been met.

Petition to Add (PTA) numbers will not be provided for major restricted coursework, please refer to ourenrollment policiespage. 

To change your major to Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering from a major in any College (including Engineering):

For students who enrolled as first-years at UC Davis, you must meet the following criteria:
  1. Be a registered student and have completed at least one quarter (minimum of 12 units) at UC Davis.
  2. Be in good academic standing and meet minimum progress requirements.
  3. Have received a letter grade for all courses that satisfy Engineering degree requirements.
GPA and Course Requirements:
GPA required 
(UC GPA, Mat/Che/Phy GPA, & Engineering GPA)
Must have a (C-) or better in the following (including any additional major specific courses completed):
Aero Spc: 2.8 GPAMAT 021A, 021B, 021C
Mech Eng: 2.8 GPACHE 002A
 PHY 009A
 
For all students who transferred to UC Davis, you must:
  1. Be a registered student and have completed at least one quarter (minimum of 12 units) at UC Davis
  2. Be in good academic standing and meet minimum progress requirements
  3. Have received a letter grade for all courses that satisfy Engineering degree requirements
  4. Have completed all transfer admission coursework and GPA requirements for the intended major
    1. For students who have not completed all transfer admission requirements at their previous institution, they must earn a 2.000 GPA or higher in these remaining courses at UC Davis.
GPA and Course Requirements:
Technical GPA must be met first
If Technical GPA is met, then the UC GPA, Mat/Che/Phy GPA, & 
Engineering GPA will be reviewed.

Must have a (C-) or better in the following:

Technical GPA for both EMEC/EASE: 3.20
(all courses completed PRIOR to transferring to UC Davis).
