Bio
Dr. Harvey (she/her) leads the Biologically Informed Research and Design (BIRD) lab that studies biological flight with a focus on how, when, and why animals adjust their morphology in flight. Her research aims to inspire highly maneuverable and adaptable uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) designs and to advance our understanding of how animals fly. This work integrates experimental, numerical and analytical techniques from both biology and engineering including wind tunnel experiments, aerodynamics and aircraft dynamics modeling, anatomical and morphological studies and motion tracking.
